Frequently Asked Questions
Who exactly is HAL?
HAL stands for Human Accountability Layer. It's a document add-on that lets individuals claim responsibility for paragraphs they wrote or reviewed — creating a transparent record of human accountability.
Does HAL detect AI-generated content?
No. HAL does not analyze, scan, or detect AI text. It works the other way around — it lets humans proactively declare what they authored or verified.
Is my document content sent to external servers?
Never. All marking happens locally inside your document editor. HAL only stores metadata (who, when, which paragraph hash) — never your actual text.
What platforms does HAL support?
Google Docs™ is fully supported today. Microsoft Word support is coming soon. HAL works as a sidebar add-on directly inside your editor.
